Superbas Prevail, 6-4, Over Newark
|
The Rockville Superbas racked up a win at Rock Creek Sports Complex, bumping off the Newark Gunners, 6-4. Clint Wilson, who started for Rockville, pitched effectively for his team. The 5th-place Superbas improved to 22-25.
The Superbas got an important contribution from right fielder Kevin Brown, who in the bottom of the second knocked a 1-1 fastball into right-center for a bases-clearing double. It was his 4th double of the season and put the Superbas ahead, 5-1.
"The key at this level is throwing strike one," said Wilson. "Successful pitchers do it."
