Haymakers Earn 3-2 Win Versus Superbas
|
Rockville got a terrific performance from pitcher Roberto Salazar, but it wasn't enough to beat the Philadelphia Haymakers. Philadelphia won the Robert Boyd Memorial Stadium contest, 3-2. Salazar threw 8 innings of 3-hit ball for the losing team. The win gives Philadelphia a season record of 40-24.
Travis James was the walk-off hero for Philadelphia. With the game tied in the bottom of the ninth inning, the Haymakers second baseman hit a dramatic run-scoring double to send the teams home.
"We made a couple of mistakes," said Rockville skipper Ray DeRoy, "and it cost us."
