|
The Halifax Golden Giants ushered in the 1991 season with a win versus the Providence Steamrollers at Golden Giants Stadium. The final score was 4-3. Starting Pitcher Jason Murdoch, who finished 5th in the NL in strikeouts with 143 in 1986, had a standout performance. Getting the save was Louis Hutchinson, his 1st.
Dale Jewell had a critical at-bat with two out in the bottom of the sixth for Halifax. He came through with a 2-run double to put Halifax in front, 4-1.
"We did a lot of things right," said Jewell.
