Brooklyn Gets 8-1 Win
|
Brooklyn Bums starter Tony García was in a rhythm all game. He led his team to a win over the Newark Gunners, 8-1. García, now 4-11, was the winner. In 9 innings, he gave up 9 hits, while striking out 4, walking 1, and allowing 1 run. Newark has now lost 4 in a row.
Mike Wiggins, the 33-year old center fielder , had a direct impact on the outcome. Wiggins contributed a run-scoring walk in the top of the first inning to put Brooklyn up, 2-0.
"We cashed in when we had the chance," said Brooklyn manager Kirk Medlin.
