Washington Gets 7-5 Road Win
|
The Washington Grays defeated the Philadelphia Haymakers, 7-5. Doing his part was third baseman Francisco Vargas, who was 1 for 3 with a home run and a walk, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. Washington starter Everton Ullyatt was credited with the win after throwing 114 pitches over 7 innings. His record now stands at 2-5. The victory puts Washington at 31-58.
One of the biggest contributors for Washington was second baseman Geoff Polk. In the top of the sixth, with runners on 2nd and 3rd, Polk got a 2-2 fastball and hit a 2-run single. That put the Grays on top, 7-4.
"Where are all my critics now?" said Polk. "Tell them they know where to find me."
