Andrian Pitches Steamboats to Shutout Victory
|
It wasn't easy but the Falconbridge Steamboats made it look that way.
Starter António Andrian shut out the Thunder Bay Mariners despite having what he later called "sub-par" stuff, and the Falconbridge Steamboats cruised to victory, 1-0. Andrian allowed only 2 hits and rang up 4 strikeouts but insisted later that he did not deserve primary credit for the win.
"It didn't feel quite right today, but I got a lot of help to get through," he said. "I trusted my catcher and the guys behind me bailed me out more than once when I screwed up."
In 19 starts this season, Andrian has picked up 5 wins while suffering 11 losses. He has pitched 112.1 innings, allowed 142 hits, struck out 31 and posted a 6.17 ERA.
