The Washington Grays got a sterling performance from pitcher Everton Ullyatt, but the Newark Gunners still prevailed, 4-3. Ullyatt threw 7 innings of 4-hit ball. The 5th-place Gunners have won 4 in a row.
One of the biggest contributors for Newark was designated hitter Flint O'Herlihy. In the top of the ninth, with runners on 2nd and 3rd, O'Herlihy got a 1-1 curveball and hit a sacrifice fly. That put the Gunners on top, 4-3.
"We bring energy to every game," said losing manager Todd Bickle. "But it's got to translate into wins."
