Grays Drop Superbas, 3-1
|
Washington Grays starter Jorge Otero was in a groove as he led his team to a win over the Rockville Superbas, 3-1. Otero got the win, improving to 2-2. He allowed 6 hits and walked 2 over 5.2 innings. Otero allowed 1 run. Hakeem Ayoob earned his 24th save in 32 chances.
An important at-bat for the Grays came in the top of the second, when third baseman Jorge Santos stroked a run-scoring single. That made the score 1-0 in favor of Washington. For the day, Santos was 2-4 with 2 singles.
"In baseball, you have your ups and downs," said Rockville manager Ray DeRoy. "You just try to stay level-headed the whole time."
Their 56-59 record puts the Grays 4th in the Southern League.
