Superbas Beat Brooklyn, 4-3
|
Rockville Superbas starter Ambrose Sanders was in a groove as he led his team to a win over the Brooklyn Bums, 4-3. Rockville reliever Yukinaga Takahashi picked up the win, upping his record to 3-8. Virgil Brown absorbed the loss. The Bums, now 44-75, have lost 6 straight.
With runs few and far between, the Superbas had to seize their opportunities when they came. One of the most important chances for Rockville came in the top of the 11th inning, when right fielder Ángel Rodríguez delivered a run-scoring single. The single was hit off Virgil Brown and made the score 4-3, Superbas. Rodríguez was 2 for 5 with 2 singles and a walk.
"We did a lot of things right," said Rodríguez.
