Haymakers Drop Sheriffs, 6-5
|
The Philadelphia Haymakers weathered a fine game by Poughkeepsie designated hitter Nyles Lago to upend the Sheriffs, 6-5, at Sheriffs Ballpark. Lago was 2 for 4 with 2 doubles. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. Ian Jones snagged the win in relief. In 1.1 innings, the right-hander allowed 1 run on 1 hit. He's now 4-0 on the season. Noah Hardman notched his 14th save in 17 chances.
Flint O'Herlihy was 2-5 with 2 singles. He drove in 2 runs for Philadelphia. In a tie game with two out in the top of the sixth, O'Herlihy came through with a run-scoring single. It put the Haymakers in front, 6-5.
"It wasn't our best performance," said O'Herlihy, "but a win in this league is nothing to sniff at."
The triumph puts Philadelphia at 66-54 for the season.
