Mejía Batters Regina Big Time
|
Some moments become linked with a particular player's career forever. Jorge Mejía of the Flin FLon Nordiques had one of those moments when he went 5-for-6 at the plate today in the 17-2 win over the Regina Yeti at Ballpark of Regina.
"I won't forget this anytime soon, and I don't expect it to happen too often," the 21-year-old second baseman told reporters in the postgame interview. "I'll be happy to just get a hit or two every day. Enough to hang around the league a while longer. Like 10, maybe 15 more years."
Jorge Mejía hit a two-run single in the 1st, flied out in the 3rd, hit an RBI single in the 5th, hit a solo-shot off Edgar Ramírez in the 6th, singled in the 7th and singled in the 9th.
For the season Mejía is batting .392 with 20 hits and 3 home runs. He has scored 10 times and batted in 16.
