Sheriffs Lose to Gunners, 4-3
|
Newark Gunners starter Rafael Otero was in fine form against the Poughkeepsie Sheriffs at The Armory, leading his team to a win, 4-3. Otero went 8 innings to notch the win. He scattered 8 hits, walked 4, and struck out 2. His record improves to 8-8. Yao-bang Seow notched his 34th save in 36 chances.
An impactful at-bat came in the bottom of the fourth inning. With the bases loaded, the batter, Marvin McGrady, reached on an error by the 1B, driving in 1 run. It made the score 3-2, Newark, and helped them go on to win.
"We'll savor this win," Otero told the Newark Daily News, "then get ready for the next game."
The win puts Newark at 69-56 this season.
