Sheriffs Lose to Superbas in Walk Off
|
Superbas fans were treated to an exciting walk-off win.
The Rockville Superbas took Poughkeepsie pitcher Charlie Follows's best shot and still were able to claim a win at Rock Creek Sports Complex. The final score had Rockville getting past the Sheriffs, 4-3. Follows went 8 innings and allowed 2 runs, striking out 7. Rockville reliever Yukinaga Takahashi picked up the win, upping his record to 4-8. Dermot Hollis shouldered the loss.
Pedro Quintanilla, who finished 2nd in the NL in RBI with 90 in 1984, won the game with a run-scoring single in the bottom of the ninth. In the contest, the Rockville first baseman was 1 for 3 with a walk.
"This place was jumping at the end," Quintanilla said.
Rockville now sits at 60-67, while Poughkeepsie falls to 74-53.
