Lumberjacks Deal Sasquatches 8-5 Loss
|
No one was more impactful than Ron Swallow in the 8-5 Bangor win over Saint John. Swallow, who finished 2nd in the SL in batting average with .333 in 1980, went 4 for 5 with 4 singles and a walk, while scoring 3 times. Bangor pitcher Norm Turner got the win. He's now 1-0. Haroun Al Rachid Awad was tagged with the loss. Ron Martin earned the save, his 1st.
It could have been a different outcome for Bangor, had it not been for Enrique Fernández, the 25-year old center fielder . Fernández contributed a 2-run single in the top of the tenth inning to put Bangor up, 7-5.
In postgame remarks, Swallow simply said: "Here's to a great win!"
Bangor goes to 5-3 with the win.
