Bucks Score Late, Stun Lumberjacks, 9-7
|
With designated hitter Wop Ouwens leading the charge, the Moncton Bucks defeated the Bangor Lumberjacks, 9-7, at Resurgo Stadium. Ouwens, who finished 5th in the NL in extra base hits with 52 in 1987, was 2 for 4 with 2 singles and a walk. He scored 2 runs. Moncton reliever José Guerra picked up the win, upping his record to 2-0. Ron Martin took the loss. The defeat makes Bangor 10-7.
Had Manuel Aguilar not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and the bases loaded, Aguilar hit a 2-run single. That made the score 9-7, in favor of the Bucks.
"It's nice to come out on top today," said Aguilar.
