Providence and Moncton duked it out and the Steamrollers came out victorious.
The Moncton Bucks got a sterling performance from pitcher Gordon Branham, but the Providence Steamrollers still prevailed, 3-1. Branham threw 7 innings allowing 2 runs. The winner was Nicky Amey, who threw 108 pitches over 5.1 innings. The right-hander was charged with 1 run on 9 hits.
It could have been a different outcome for Providence, had it not been for Almas bin Da'ud, the three-time All-Star . bin Da'ud contributed a run-scoring sacrifice fly in the top of the fifth inning to put Providence up, 2-1.
"It takes a lot of things to win a ballgame," said Providence manager Matt Haynes. "It's usually not just one thing."
The win puts Providence at 10-11.
