Steamrollers Hold Off Bucks, 3-2
|
Providence Steamrollers starter Nicky Amey hurled his team past the Moncton Bucks, 3-2. Amey went 8.2 innings to notch the win. He scattered 7 hits, walked 2, and struck out 2. His record improves to 2-1. Charlie Minto finished the game for Providence and earned his 5th save.
Providence relied on the hitting of Brian O'Hanraghan to pick up the win. The right fielder ripped a run-scoring triple in the top of the sixth inning to put the Steamrollers on top, 3-0. For the game, O'Hanraghan had 1 triple and 1 single in 4 at-bats.
"We made a couple of mistakes," said Moncton skipper Joel Odenbach, "and it cost us."
Moncton drops to 17-8.
