Phoenix Blanks Monterrey Behind Valli
|
Everything clicked on the hill today for Virgile Valli as he hurled the Phoenix Firebirds to a 9-0 shutout win over the Monterrey Swordsmen, limiting them to 4 hits while recording 6 strikeouts and yielding 1 walk. He overpowered some batters with fastballs and buckled knees with sharp breaking pitches.
"We had our shot at him a couple of different times," Swordsmen manager António Ramos said. "We just weren't able to get to him."
