Pivotal Game 5 Goes to Host Bucks, 4-0
The Moncton Bucks got an exceptional performance from starter Mitchell Thompson, who silenced the Brooklyn offense en route to a 4-0 shutout win in Game 5 of the The King's Cup today. The Bums could never get a bead on the right-handed Thompson, who threw 9 innings of shutout ball to earn player of the game honors. The Bucks now hold a 3-2 advantage in the best-of-9 series.

Had Carroll Orkney not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and a runner on 2nd, Orkney hit a 2-run home run. That made the score 2-0, in favor of the Bucks.

"I like our moxie," said Bucks manager Joel Odenbach.

Game 6 is set to be played on Thursday, September 20th, 1956 at Bucks Ballpark. Slated to start are Justin Gibson for the Bums and Mitchell Thompson for the Bucks.
