Bucks Win Again, Extend Series Lead to 4-2
|
The Moncton Bucks moved to within one game of the Round 2 today, downing the visiting Brooklyn Bums at Bucks Ballpark by a score of 6-1. Bucks right-hander Craig Corderey was named player of the game after a strong outing in which he threw 9 innings of 5-hit ball. The win gives the Bucks a 4-2 advantage in the best-of-9 The King's Cup.
The Bucks beat the Bums in part due to timely hitting. Case in point: the two-out single Sancho Cabrera produced in the bottom of the second. Batting against Brooklyn pitcher Roberto Quezada, Cabrera gave his team a 2-0 lead when he hit a 2-run single.
"Feels good to get the job done," Cabrera said after the game.
The next game is scheduled for Saturday, September 22nd, 1956 at Bushwick Stadium. The scheduled starters for the game are Craig Corderey for the Bucks and Justin Gibson for the Bums.
