Dias Handcuffs Bums, Alliance Seize 4-2 Advantage in The King's Cup
Christian Dias pitched a gem to help the Cardiff Alliance escape with a tight 1-0 victory over the Brooklyn Bums in a low-scoring The King's Cup contest today. The left-handed Dias threw 8 innings of shutout ball in the win, just enough for the Alliance on a day when their offense dried up. Cardiff now leads the best-of-9 series 4-2.

Cardiff took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the seventh inning. With no one out, shortstop Octávio Sánchez hit a solo home run that set the crowd abuzz.

"I like the grit of this ballclub," Sánchez said.

The next game is set to be played on Saturday, September 24th, 1955 at Bushwick Stadium. The scheduled starters for the game are Alex Westcott for the Alliance and Justin Gibson for the Bums.
