|
Halifax Golden Giants starter Fernando Almuina was in a rhythm all game. He led his team to a win over the Providence Steamrollers, 4-1. Almuina went 7 innings to notch the win. He scattered 4 hits, walked 3, and struck out 3. His record improves to 1-2. Earning his 9th save of the year was Louis Hutchinson.
The Golden Giants got a big at-bat from first baseman Dale Jewell. For the game, Jewell was 1-4 with a home run. In the bottom of the fourth, with the bases empty, he stroked a solo home run. His 5th home run of the season gave Halifax a 2-1 lead.
"Fernando did a tremendous job," said Halifax manager Anthony Puhl.
With the win, Halifax raised its record to 17-16.
