Young Lifts Bucks to 7-3 Win
Swerdlove Stadium was the site for Northern League action featuring the Fredericton Salamanders and Moncton Bucks.

The 7-3 Moncton win over Fredericton was due largely to Les Young. The Bucks first baseman was 2 for 4 with a home run and a walk, while scoring 2 times and driving in 4. The winning pitcher was Allen McGinnity. His record is now 2-0. The right-hander went 6 innings, allowing 1 run on 3 hits for the Bucks.

Moncton used the bat of Spike Haynes to get the win. The center fielder hammered a 2-run home run in the top of the fourth inning to put the Bucks ahead, 2-1. It was his lone hit in 5 at-bats, but it did its damage.

Young told a Moncton News reporter that he was "more than satisfied" with the win.

The victory gives Moncton a record of 22-12.
