Sasquatches Take Down Lumberjacks, 5-4
|
No one was more impactful than Ger Klerk in the 5-4 Saint John win over Bangor. Klerk, who is tied for 3rd in the NL in bases on balls with 28, was 2 for 3 with a home run and a walk, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. Haroun Al Rachid Awad was credited with the save for Saint John, his 2nd of the season. The triumph puts Saint John at 30-23 for the season.
This game was not decided until Mauro Cardona came to bat in the top of the ninth. With runners on 1st and 3rd and one out, the Saint John designated hitter grounded out, driving in 1 run. The Sasquatches took the lead, 5-4.
"One win at a time, one game at a time. We try not to get too far ahead of ourselves," Klerk told the Saint John Observer.
