Salamanders Snag 9-6 Win
|
The Fredericton Salamanders defeated the Halifax Golden Giants, 9-6. Doing his part was second baseman Kata Okumura, who was 3 for 5 with a home run and a double. He drove in 4 runs and scored once. Halifax has now lost 4 straight.
In the top of the eighth, Fredericton right fielder John van Amersfoort had a run-producing at-bat. Facing Halifax hurler Ramiro Casas, van Amersfoort reached on an error by the 3B, driving in 1 run. That made the score 5-3, Fredericton. For the day, van Amersfoort was 2 for 5 with a home run, while scoring 2 runs.
"You know, at the end of the day, it's about who scores the most runs," said Fredericton manager Chris Mills.
