Lumberjacks Run Win Streak to 7
|
The 1991 season is going from bad to worse for Fredericton.
A good performance from center fielder Enrique Fernández helped the Bangor Lumberjacks defeat the Fredericton Salamanders, 6-2. Fernández went 3 for 5 with a home run and 2 singles. He drove in 4 runs and scored once for the Lumberjacks. Lucas Lloyd got the win, improving to 7-6. He pitched 7 innings, giving up 5 hits and 2 runs, while striking out 6 and walking 3. Wu-shun Ti notched his 2nd save in 2 chances.
With Bangor leading 3-2 in the top of the ninth, Fernández came up to bat against Fredericton pitcher Roberto Gabriel. Fernández hit a fastball to right for a 3-run home run. His 5th home run of the season put the Lumberjacks on top, 6-2.
"We've got a great group of guys," Fernández said, "and we're having fun right now."
The Salamanders, at 16-47, have lost 11 straight games.
