Golden Giants Deal Bucks 9-5 Loss
|
The inspired effort of Moncton designated hitter Wop Ouwens was not enough to prevent a loss, 9-5, to the Halifax Golden Giants. Ouwens went 4 for 5 with a home run and 3 doubles, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. Fernando Almuina was the winning pitcher. Over 6.1 innings, he allowed 4 runs on 7 hits, with 2 walks and 4 strikeouts. The win elevated the Golden Giants to 36-31.
Who knows how it might've ended, had it not been for William Mayer? The Halifax second baseman had a 2-run single in the top of the fourth inning to put the Golden Giants on top, 3-1. For the game, Mayer had 1 double and 1 single in 5 at-bats.
