Bangor Lumberjacks starter Sancho Hernández was in a groove as he led his team to a win over the Halifax Golden Giants, 3-2. Norm Turner converted his 19th save in 21 tries. Bangor now has a record of 44-37 with the win.

The Lumberjacks got a big at-bat from center fielder Rod Maddox. For the game, Maddox went 1-4 with a home run, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. In the bottom of the fourth, with a runner on 1st, he stroked a 2-run home run. His 8th home run of the season gave Bangor a 2-0 lead.

"I tell our guys all the time, 'Every pitch is the right pitch if you put it in the right place, you believe in it and have conviction,'" Bangor manager John Bibler said.
