The King's Cup Game 1 Victory for Winschermann\n and Liverpool
The Liverpool AC moved to within one game of the Round 2 today, downing the visiting Brooklyn Bums at Liverpool Municipal Stadium by a score of 8-1. AC left-hander Helmuth Winschermann was named player of the game after a strong outing in which he threw 9 innings of 5-hit ball. The win gives the AC a - advantage in the best-of- The King's Cup.

Winschermann, a native of Mauren, Liechtenstein, was dealing all game. He kept Brooklyn hitters off-balance, while giving the AC 9 quality innings. Winschermann threw 150 pitches, allowing 5 hits and striking out 9.

"I had pretty good command out there," said Winschermann.

The next game is scheduled for Friday, September 24th, 1965. Slated to start are Scott Hoskins for Liverpool and Okakura Hasegawa for Brooklyn.
