Already down in the Division Finals, the Poughkeepsie Sheriffs put on their best show, beating the Philadelphia Haymakers by a final score of 1-0 today. Jim Morton earned player of the game honors, as he threw 9 innings of shutout ball. Poughkeepsie now trails Philadelphia 2-1 in the best-of-7 affair.

Morton allowed no earned runs on 4 hits over 9 innings for the Sheriffs. He walked 1 and struck out 8.

"We did just enough to win," Morton said.

The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Robert Boyd Memorial Stadium. Slated to start are Manny López for the Poughkeepsie Sheriffs and Abdul-Razzaq bin Salah for the the Philadelphia Haymakers.
