The Halifax starter rose to the occasion at Albuquerque Grounds today, earning player of the game honors after leading the Golden Giants to a crucial 3-0 victory over the Albuquerque Sky. Mendoza threw 7 innings of shutout ball as the Golden Giants won on the road to seize a - lead in the best-of- ACB Championship.

Przemo Sbroczynski, who is a five-time All-Star, aided the Halifax cause with a 2-run home run in the top of the sixth. For the game, the second baseman was 1 for 3 with a home run and a walk, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once.

"We played a good game and came out on top," said Sbroczynski.

Game 3 is set to be played Wednesday at Golden Giants Stadium. Slated to start are Anastasio Ortíz for the Albuquerque Sky and Rob Dempsey for the the Halifax Golden Giants.
