Haymakers Win to Extend Series Lead to 3-0
|
Saint John first baseman Lee Fenton pounded Philadelphia Haymakers pitchers at Saint John Stadium, but it was not enough to keep the Sasquatches from falling, 6-5 in Game 3 of the ACB Championship. Fenton belted 2 home runs, while scoring 3 runs and driving in 2 and was named player of the game for his efforts, even as he saw the Sasquatches slip to a 3-0 deficit in the best-of-7 series.
A crucial at-bat came with runners on 2nd and 3rd and two out in the top of the seventh inning. That's when second baseman Bo Buchanan, the 9th overall pick in the 1975 draft, drew a walk. The Haymakers went on to win.
"If you want to be considered a good team, these are the kind of games you have to win," said Philadelphia manager Jason Bartlett.
Game 4 is set to be played tomorrow. Slated to start are Itocravo Toronho for Philadelphia and Taweel bin Qaraja for Saint John.
