ACB Championship Game 1 Victory for Maes and Poughkeepsie
The Poughkeepsie Sheriffs moved to within one game of the Round 3 today, downing the visiting El Paso Potros at Sheriffs Ballpark by a score of 3-1. Sheriffs right-hander Pedro Maes was named player of the game after a strong outing in which he threw 8 innings of 3-hit ball. The win gives the Sheriffs a - advantage in the best-of- ACB Championship.

Maes, who was born in Hillcrest Heights, Maryland, threw 101 pitches over 8 innings, while allowing 1 earned run.

"If I go out there and help the team win, that's all you can do," said Maes.

Game 4 is scheduled for tomorrow at Sheriffs Ballpark. The scheduled starters for the game are Orlando Trujillo for the El Paso Potros and Manny López for the the Poughkeepsie Sheriffs.
