ACB Championship Game 1 Victory for Ubaya and Philadelphia
|
The Philadelphia Haymakers moved to within one game of the Round 3 today, downing the visiting Providence Steamrollers at Robert Boyd Memorial Stadium by a score of 5-2. Haymakers right-hander Lateef Ubaya was named player of the game after a strong outing in which he threw 8 innings allowing 2 runs. The win gives the Haymakers a - advantage in the best-of- ACB Championship.
Tied up with the Steamrollers in the bottom of the fourth inning, the Haymakers got a boost from third baseman Yunosuke Hayagawa. With runners on 2nd and 3rd, Hayagawa saw a 3-1 fastball from Taine Minar and hit a 3-run home run to break the stalemate and put Philadelphia on top, 5-2.
"We haven't forgotten how long this series might be, but is a heck of a lot better than - ," Ubaya said.
