Almost There: Saint John On Cusp of ACBC Triumph After 7-4 Win
|
The Saint John Sasquatches moved to within one game of the Round 3 today, downing the visiting Manchester City Baseball Stars at Saint John Stadium by a score of 7-4. Sasquatches shortstop Miguel Padilla was named player of the game after he went 3 for 4 with a triple, 2 singles, and a walk. He scored 2 runs and drove in 2. The win gives the Sasquatches a - advantage in the best-of- ACB Championship.
Lee Fenton aided the Saint John cause with a run-scoring single in the bottom of the sixth. For the game, the designated hitter was 1-4 with a walk.
"They say the first rule of the playoffs is to win the home games," Fenton said afterward. "It feels nice, but it is kind of what we were supposed to do."
Game 5 is scheduled for Thursday at Hyde Road in Manchester. The scheduled starters for the game are Bobby McLean for Saint John and Roy Evison for Manchester City.
