Almost There: Poughkeepsie On Cusp of ACBC Triumph After 10-7 Win
The Poughkeepsie Sheriffs and the Halifax Golden Giants will take the ACB Championship to a decisive th game. Facing a must-win situation at Golden Giants Stadium today, the Sheriffs beat the Golden Giants 10-7 in extra innings to force the series into what will essentially be a one-game playoff. Halifax second baseman Przemo Sbroczynski was named player of the game in a losing effort after he belted 2 home runs. He drove in 4 runs and scored twice.

The most important at-bat for Poughkeepsie came in the top of the 11th inning. With one out, Vincente Rodríguez reached on an error by the 2B, driving in 1 run, putting Poughkeepsie up, 8-7.

"Exciting game to play in," said Rodríguez. "Getting the win makes it even better."

The next game is scheduled for Thursday, October 26th, 1978. Slated to start are Rob Dempsey for Halifax and Manny López for Poughkeepsie.
