Almost There: Washington On Cusp of ACBC Triumph After 4-3 Win
|
An all-important Game of the ACB Championship went into extra innings at Grays Ballpark, with the Washington Grays eventually emerging on top. Washington has Charlie Butler to thank, after the center fielder went 3 for 4 with 3 doubles and a walk in the 4-3 victory. The Grays are now one game away from the Round 3, holding a - lead in the best-of- series.
Late in the game, right fielder Masruq bin Dawud had a big at-bat for Washington. In the bottom of the tenth, he hit a run-scoring single off Tero Kytölehto. The play gave the Grays a 4-3 lead.
"I hate extra innings," Washington manager Scott Vibert said. "It makes everyone more tired, wears out the bullpen, wears out the fans. Even winning doesn't make me feel good about it."
Game 3 is scheduled for Saturday, October 14th, 1978. The scheduled starters for the game are Sinclair Overbeek for Washington and Taweel bin Qaraja for Saint John.
