ACB Championship Game 1 Victory for Millar and Providence
|
The Providence Steamrollers have a critical edge over the Saint John Sasquatches in the ACB Championship, thanks to the veteran arm of Wayne Millar.
Millar, 42, put on a dominant performance at Steamrollers Ballpark today, leading the Steamrollers to victory, 5-1, in a pivotal Game . Providence is now one game away from the ACB Championship, leading the best-of- series by a margin of - . Saint John will need to win both remaining games to advance.
Jorge Félix, who is a two-time All-Star, aided the Providence cause with a 2-run single in the bottom of the third. For the game, the designated hitter was 2 for 4 with 2 singles. He drove in 2 runs and scored once.
"These guys make me feel young," said Millar.
The next game is scheduled for Sunday. The scheduled starters for the game are Brad Robertson for Providence and Bobby McLean for Saint John.
