Gunners Hammered by Vargas, Drop Game 2 to Haymakers
In a crucial game, the Philadelphia Haymakers put on their best show, beating the Newark Gunners by a final score of 11-10 today. Francisco Vargas earned player of the game honors, as he went 3-6 with 2 home runs and 4 walks. He drove in 3 runs and scored twice. Philadelphia and Newark are now tied at 1 wins apiece in the best-of-7 affair.

The game was all tied up in the top of the 18th, until Vargas delivered big-time for Philadelphia, stroking a dramatic run-scoring single off Álex Ramos. The game-changing hit put the Haymakers on top, 11-10.

"This was one of those 'not to be denied' games," said Philadelphia field general Jon Lyons.

Game 3 is scheduled for Sunday at Robert Boyd Memorial Stadium. The scheduled starters for the game are Alfredo Jiménez for Newark and Will Jardine for Philadelphia.
