Bums Earn 5-4 Win Versus Superbas
|
Behind the hitting of Ricardo Gómez, the Brooklyn Bums stopped the Rockville Superbas, 5-4. Gómez went 3 for 4 with a home run, a double, and a walk, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once for the Bums. With the win, Brooklyn raised its record to 15-14.
In the top of the ninth, with a runner on 2nd, Gómez strode to the plate. He got a 2-2 curveball from Marcos Rivas and hit a run-scoring double. The clutch hit put the Bums in front, 5-4.
"We had the game right there for the taking," said Rockville manager Ray DeRoy. "But we decided not to take it."
