Saint John Tops Newark 8-2, Claim 2-1 Series Lead
With starter Héctor Pérez leading the charge, the Saint John Sasquatches defeated the Newark Gunners, 8-2, in Game 3 of the ACB Championship today. The right-hander threw 7 innings of 6-hit ball at The Armory to help Saint John take a 2-1 lead in the best-of-7 series.

Saint John relied on the hitting of Spencer Cooper to pick up the win. The right fielder clubbed a solo home run in the top of the fourth inning to put the Sasquatches on top, 2-0. For the game, Cooper had 1 home run and 2 singles in 5 at-bats.

"We lost," Newark manager Steve Hirschel said later. "We'll deal with it. The series isn't over."

Game 4 is set to be played tomorrow. Slated to start are Badrak Dingane for the Saint John Sasquatches and Alfredo Jiménez for the the Newark Gunners.
