bin Harun, Bangor Start ACB Championship Strong with Home Win
|
The Bangor Lumberjacks are one game away from a sweep after a 3-1 win over the visiting Monterrey Swordsmen at Lumberjacks Ballpark today. Lumberjacks right-hander Bilal bin Harun was named player of the game after a strong outing in which he threw 6 innings of 2-hit ball. Bangor now holds a - advantage in the best-of- ACB Championship.
Pedro Quintanilla, who finished 3rd in the NL in home runs with 27 in 1987, aided the Bangor cause with a run-scoring single in the bottom of the seventh. For the game, the third baseman was 1 for 3.
"We haven't stopped playing," Monterrey manager Kent Poe said. "We didn't get this far to give up."
The next game is set to be played Friday at Ballpark of Monterrey. Slated to start are Alexander Bikham for Bangor and Colton Whittier for Monterrey.
