Almost There: Bangor On Cusp of ACBC Triumph After 6-2 Win
|
The Bangor Lumberjacks are one game away from a sweep of the Monterrey Swordsmen today after a 6-2 road win at Ballpark of Monterrey. Lumberjacks right-hander Alexander Bikham was named player of the game after a strong outing in which he threw 6 innings of 5-hit ball. Bangor now holds a - advantage in the best-of- ACB Championship.
Bangor used the clutch hitting of Pedro Quintanilla to capture the win. The third baseman drilled a bases-clearing double in the top of the fifth inning to give the Lumberjacks the lead, 4-0. For the game, Quintanilla had 1 single and 1 double in 5 at-bats.
"I don't care a whit about getting a sweep," Quintanilla said. "The only part of it that matters to me is it means we've got a lot of chances to get that last win."
The next game is scheduled for tomorrow at Ballpark of Monterrey. Slated to start are Francisco Martínez for Bangor and Rafael Cantú for Monterrey.
