Martínez Handcuffs Swordsmen, Lumberjacks Seize - Advantage in ACBC
The Bangor Lumberjacks moved to within one game of the Round 3 today, downing the Monterrey Swordsmen on the road at Ballpark of Monterrey by a score of 9-6. Lumberjacks right-hander Francisco Martínez was named player of the game after a strong outing in which he threw 8 innings allowing 4 runs. The win gives the Lumberjacks a - advantage in the best-of- ACB Championship.

Bangor used a timely hit from Gordon Jordan to get the win. The second baseman delivered a 2-run triple in the top of the first inning to put the Lumberjacks on top, 3-0. It was his only hit in 5 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.

"It's true for every sport, I think, but the playoffs are so short that you've just got to get in and get hot," Bangor manager John Bibler told BNN after the win. "We took care of the first part and now we're just working on the second."

Game 5 is set to be played Monday at Lumberjacks Ballpark. Slated to start are Pedro González for Monterrey and Jason Murdoch for Bangor.
