Home Field Advantage: Bacon, Philadelphia Open ACB Championship with Win
|
The Philadelphia Haymakers have a critical edge over the Bangor Lumberjacks in the ACB Championship, thanks to the veteran arm of Jimmy Bacon.
Bacon, 31, put on a dominant performance at Robert Boyd Memorial Stadium today, leading the Haymakers to victory, 1-0, in a pivotal Game . Philadelphia is now one game away from the ACB Championship, leading the best-of- series by a margin of - . Bangor will need to win both remaining games to advance.
César García, the Philadelphia designated hitter, contributed a run-scoring single in the bottom of the first inning to make the score 1-0, Haymakers. For the game, García was 1 for 4.
"We came out on the wrong end of this one," said Bangor skipper John Bibler.
The next game is scheduled for Wednesday. Slated to start are Damon Boggs for the Philadelphia Haymakers and Alexander Bikham for the the Bangor Lumberjacks.
