Thrice as Nice: Bangor Seizes - Advantage With Late Win
|
The Bangor Lumberjacks started the ACB Championship in dramatic fashion today, stealing Game 1 from the Philadelphia Haymakers in a walk-off in the 10th inning. Bangor took the 2-1 win thanks in large part to a good day from starter Francisco Martínez. The right-hander threw 7 innings of 6-hit ball in the win, which gave the Lumberjacks a - lead to start the best-of- series.
Yasutake Tomita had the critical at-bat for Bangor. With two out in the bottom of the tenth inning, he hit a walk-off run-scoring single. It gave Bangor the 2-1 walk-off win.
"It was just a matter of executing," said Bangor manager John Bibler.
Game 5 is scheduled for Saturday at Robert Boyd Memorial Stadium. The scheduled starters for the game are Jason Murdoch for the Bangor Lumberjacks and Will Jardine for the the Philadelphia Haymakers.
