Pivotal Game Goes to Host Sasquatches, 10-4
|
The Saint John Sasquatches are one game away from a sweep after a 10-4 win over the visiting Bangor Lumberjacks at Saint John Stadium today. Sasquatches first baseman Ignacio Martínez was named player of the game, as he was 3 for 4 with 3 singles and a walk. He scored 2 times. Saint John now holds a - advantage in the best-of- ACB Championship.
A defensive lapse proved costly in the contest. In the bottom of the eighth, with the game tied, Pedro Quintanilla was at the plate when Saint John scored 1 on an error. The miscue enabled the Sasquatches to go in front, 5-4.
"It was a solid team effort and we'll try to keep this momentum going," Martínez told reporters after the game.
Game 2 is scheduled for tomorrow at Saint John Stadium in Saint John. Slated to start are Bob Cote for Bangor and Badrak Dingane for Saint John.
