Thrice as Nice: Saint John Seizes - Advantage With Late Win
|
The Saint John Sasquatches have a critical edge over the Bangor Lumberjacks in the ACB Championship, thanks to the veteran arm of Badrak Dingane.
Dingane, 34, put on a dominant performance at Saint John Stadium today, leading the Sasquatches to victory, 2-1, in a pivotal Game . Saint John is now one game away from the ACB Championship, leading the best-of- series by a margin of - . Bangor will need to win both remaining games to advance.
The game was at a stalemate until third baseman Pedro Quintanilla came to bat in the bottom of the tenth. Facing Bangor pitcher Rubén Pérez, he hit a 1-2 cutter for a solo home run. It was a game-changer, putting Saint John on top, 2-1.
"We were a little off-kilter to start the series, but we're getting things figured out now," Saint John manager Jason Russell told reporters. "At least I hope we are."
The next game is set to be played Tuesday in Bangor. Slated to start are Bobby McLean for the Saint John Sasquatches and Bob Cote for the the Bangor Lumberjacks.
