Host Gunners Drop Pivotal Game , Now Trail Series -

The Cardiff Alliance moved to within one game of the Round 2 today, downing the Newark Gunners on the road at The Armory by a score of 7-6. Alliance designated hitter Javier Acosta was named player of the game after he was 4-4 with 2 doubles, 2 singles, and a walk. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. The win gives the Alliance a - advantage in the best-of- TBL Classic.
Acosta came through for Cardiff with a run-scoring double in the top of the sixth. He hit a 1-0 fastball to right-center field, staking his team to a 7-6 lead.
"We aren't quitting," Newark manager Steve Hirschel said. "Yeah, the odds are definitely in their favor, but they've got to earn it."
Game 6 is set to be played Saturday, October 24th, 1987. The scheduled starters for the game are Alberto Vázquez for Newark and Tomás Vargas for Cardiff.
