ACB Championship Game 1 Victory for Beck and Moncton
|
The Moncton Bucks have a critical edge over the Manchester City Baseball Stars in the ACB Championship, thanks to the veteran arm of Bobby Beck.
Beck, 32, put on a dominant performance at Resurgo Stadium today, leading the Bucks to victory, 6-1, in a pivotal Game . Moncton is now one game away from the ACB Championship, leading the best-of- series by a margin of - . Manchester City will need to win both remaining games to advance.
In the bottom of the first, Moncton left fielder Wop Ouwens had a productive at-bat. With a runner on 1st and no one out, Ouwens stroked a 2-run home run to left. It made the score 2-0, Moncton. For the game, he slugged 2 home runs. He drove in 3 runs and scored twice.
"We're going to have to play flawless baseball from here on out," Manchester City manager Shane Hawke said. "Which, let's face it, we haven't been doing lately."
Game 2 is set to be played tomorrow at Resurgo Stadium. The scheduled starters for the game are Francisco Sánchez for the Manchester City Baseball Stars and Carlos Ibarra for the the Moncton Bucks.
